Sylvester "Ed" E. Eggleston, age 83, of Gloversville, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at his residence.
He was born on April 22, 1929, in Potsdam, a son of late Ethan and Florence Montel Eggleston. Sylvester worked for many years in construction during numerous building and maintenance projects for the St. Lawrence Seaway. "Ed" will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Eggleston is survived by his partner of over 48 years, Diane E. Dickson; one brother, John Jesmer; three nephews, Floyd Eggleston Jr. and his wife, Amy, Richard Bell and John Eggleston; five second nephews, Bruno Eggleston, Kelly Eggleston, Amanda Eggleston, Jacob Eggleston and Floyd Eggleston III.
He was predeceased by his son, Kenneth D. Dickson on May 31, 2012; and four brothers, Herbie Eggleston, Floyd Eggleston Sr., Leo Eggleston and Lloyd Eggleston.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 22, at 1 p.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown, with Pastor Merle Hock of Northville Pilgrim Holiness Church, officiating. Family and friends may call prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
