The Leader Herald

MAYFIELD - The Mayfield Central School District's two schools were locked down Tuesday morning while Fulton County sheriff's deputies arrested a Gloversville man on a violent felony burglary warrant out of New York City.

Deputies said Jorge I. Lugo Jr., 25, of 107 East Ave., was charged on that warrant, as well as driving out of class and resisting arrest.

The incident began on Route 30 after deputies stopped Lugo's vehicle. Deputies said it was discovered he had a warrant out of New York City. Lugo ran from the scene and was apprehended off North Main Street after a short chase.

Deputies said both Mayfield schools were locked down for a period.

Lugo was issued tickets for Town Court and turned over to the New York City Police Department on the warrant.
