Wilma M. "Billie" Fitzgerald, 69, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam following a brief illness. She was born July 16, 1942, in Wiscasset, Maine, the daughter of the late Charles M. and Hazel Bryden Erskine Sr.
Billie has been a resident of the area for the past twenty five years. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, baking and cooking. She adored her grandchildren and spending time with her friends and family.
Her loving family includes her companion of twenty two years, Rick Leotta; sons, Jimmy J. Thompson (Jennifer Fisher) of Gloversville and Danny Thompson of Massachusetts; stepchildren, Michael J. Leotta and Monica Ann Leotta; beloved grandchildren, Owen and Kendra Thompson, Chase and Kiana Leotta. Her sister, Edna Cole (Pete); and brother, Charles Erskine also survive along with special niece, Jeanne Marie Cassavant. Many other nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A funeral service for Billie will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012, at noon at the Betz Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam NY 12010. Family and friends are invited to visit from 10 a.m. until noon prior to the funeral service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery in Tribes Hill.
