LITTLE FALLS - The Amsterdam Mohawks ran their win streak to seven in a row on Tuesday with an 8-4 victory at Mohawk Valley on Tuesday in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League contest.

The Mohawks improved to 8-2 with the win and maintained a one-game lead over second place Oneonta (7-3). The DiamondDawgs lost their third in a row and fell to 3-8, including 0-2 against Amsterdam. The Mohawks have not lost since June 8 at Glens Falls.

Rocky McCord (Auburn) threw six strong innings and extended Amsterdam's shutout streak to 27 straight innings before he was finally touched for four runs in the sixth. It was the first time an opponent had scored against Amsterdam since Friday when Elmira scored in the fifth inning.

After a leadoff double in the first inning, McCord retired 15 in a row before the Mohawk Valley rally that closed Amsterdam's lead from 7-0 to 7-4. McCord gave up four hits in six innings with four runs allowed while striking out six.

Evan Stephens (Wake Forest) started the scoring for Amsterdam with a solo home run in the third off Mohawk Valley starter Evan Wolff.

Stephens' blast was his first of the year and the team's fifth, all of which have come on the road.

Chase Green (SIU-Edwardsville) entered the game with the league's top batting average at .421 and kept that spot by going 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Giuseppe Papaccio (Seton Hall) scored a couple of runs and stole a base as he reached base three times with a single and two walks. Jeff Boehm (Kentucky) went 2-for-4 including an RBI double.

The Mohawks reached double-digits in hits for the sixth straight game.

They have scored seven or more runs five times in their seven-game win streak an have a total of 45 runs in the stretch, almost 6.5 per game.

Amsterdam concludes their home-and-home series with the Albany Dutchmen on Wednesday night at Bob Bellizzi Field. The Mohawks defeated Albany on Monday, 2-0, at Shuttleworth Park.

The Mohawks are back at home for a split doubleheader on Thursday against second-place Oneonta. Game one will be at 3 p.m. followed by the Chamber Softball Classic between games and then the second game of the doubleheader at 7 p.m. Amsterdam will also host Glens Falls on Friday night on ParkFest with a post-game fireworks display.
