A total of 14 area spring sports teams were among those honored by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association as scholar-athlete team award winners.
To earn the honors, a team needed to achieve an academic average of 90 or greater in classes during the winter sports season.
This year marks the 21st year the NYSPHSAA has honored teams with the award.

The Fonda-Fultonville boys track and field team had the third highest team GPA among Section II teams with its 96.592 GPA. The FFCS girls track and field team posted a team GPA of 96.556, while the softball team posted a 93.315 GPA.
Johnstown had four of its spring teams honored as the softball (91.250), girls track and field (91.817), boys track and field (91.558) and girls lacrosse (90.991) teams earned scholar-athlete team awards
Broadalbin-Perth had three teams earn scholar-athlete team awards. The B-P boys track and field (93.062), girls track and field (95.098) and softball (96.031) team all earned the honor.

Also honored were the Wells softball team (91.478) and the Mayfield softball team (93.375).
The Amsterdam golf team finished with the 10th highest team GPA in the state with a 95.286 GPA.
