Evelyn M. Flatters

Mrs. Evelyn M. Flatters, formerly of West Main Street, Amsterdam, died peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2012, one day past her 91st birthday. Born on June 15, 1921, in Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary Feeny Angelo.

Evelyn was employed by the former Montgomery County Infirmary until her retirement in 1984. She was of the Roman Catholic faith and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, Howard Flatters; a son, James "David" Flatters; her sisters, Eileen Delavic, Kathleen Krease and Mary Angelo; and her brothers, Lawrence, Gerald and Joseph Angelo.

Survivors include her son, Robert Courstoies; two daughters, Caroline "Penny" Caminiti and Kathleen "Bonnie" DeMania; two brothers, Robert and Thomas Angelo; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at 10:15 a.m. at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 11:15 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, St. John Street, Amsterdam, with the Rev. Lawrence Decker as celebrant. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. There are no calling hours.
