Three teens hurt in Caroga crash

June 13, 2012
The Leader Herald

CAROGA - Three teenagers were injured when an unlicensed minor driver flipped over a pickup truck at 8:35 p.m. Monday on Hohler Road, Fulton County sheriff's deputies said.

Deputies said the 15-year-old driver was heading north on the dirt road through a series of curves and lost control of the truck.

She overcorrected and the truck went off the east shoulder, striking a rock embankment, deputies said. Deputies said the accident caused the truck to flip onto its roof.

Deputies declined to name the female driver, whose truck was registered to Michelle L. Polaro of Caroga Lake.

A passenger, Shayne C. Graves, 16, was sitting on a four-wheeler in the bed of the truck and was ejected, landing on the ground next to the truck. He suffered minor leg bleeding but was not taken to a hospital.

The driver complained of a back injury but declined medical attention.

Another passenger, Kai D. Hillock, 17, complained of a back injury and was taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital.

Deputies said the driver is an unlicensed minor and she initially fled the scene.

The accident report listed no tickets issued.
