FONDA - Two Amsterdam men have been sentenced to terms in state prison on separate charges of selling drugs.
Christopher Martinez, 35, of 4251 Route 30, Amsterdam, was sentenced to four years in state prison and two years of post-release supervision and ordered to pay $480 in restitution and a $375 surcharge based on an earlier guilty plea to a charge of criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Martinez sold an unspecified quantity of heroin July 6, 2011, in the town of Amsterdam.
Ricardo L. Velazquez, 37, of 25 John St., Amsterdam, was sentenced to three years in state prison and three years of post-release supervision and ordered to pay $120 in restitution and a $325 surcharge. He pleaded guilty April 10 to criminal sale of a controlled substance. He sold heroin in July in the city of Amsterdam.
In other cases before Montgomery County Judge Felix Catena:
Lindsay Thompson, 25, of 162 Bay St., Glens Falls, pleaded guilty to aggravated driving while ability impaired by drugs.
The incident took place Oct. 14, 2011, in the town of Canajoharie. The aggravated DWAI charge was filed because Thompson had a 3-year-old child in the car with her at the time.
Sentencing was adjourned until Aug. 1. Thompson is expected to be placed on probation for five years and fined $2,000.
David M. Tenace, 45, of 144 Old Trail Road, Tribes Hill, was sentenced to one year in the Montgomery County Jail and ordered to pay a $325 surcharge. He pleaded guilty April 12 to aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in relation to an incident Dec. 16, 2011, in the town of Amsterdam.
The cases were prosecuted by the office of Montgomery County District Attorney James E. "Jed" Conboy.
