GLOVERSVILLE - City police are investigating the death of an elderly man whose body was found wrapped in a blanket across the street from Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Capt. John Sira said this morning a person in the area saw the body in front of 34 Thompson Ave., just west of the cemetery, and called police around 8:45 a.m. Sunday
He said police do not know the cause of death, but an autopsy will be performed today at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville. Sira said it did not appear the body was dumped on Thompson Avenue.
While foul play is not likely, "we're not ruling anything out," he said.
Police are not yet releasing the man's identity. Sira said he was identified by family members.
This is a developing story. More details will be available on Tuesday in The Leader-Herald.
