JOHNSTOWN - A city man escaped injury but was ticketed on seven counts, including drunken driving, after his car slammed into a power pole early today in the town, authorities said.

Fulton County sheriff's deputies said Andrew J. Williams, 26, of 100 S. Perry St., was charged after the accident at 1:04 a.m. on Route 67 at New Turnpike Road.

He was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, felony aggravated DWI, felony first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, leaving the scene of a property-damage accident, failure to stop for a stop sign, imprudent speed and failure to keep right.

Deputies said Williams was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop for a stop sign. His vehicle crossed Route 67 and struck a guide rail and a power pole.
