There has been so much in the news lately about the negative happenings here in Fulton County, but my heart has been lifted by the wonderful generosity of the good folks you will probably never hear about or read about.
Gloversville Cat Sanctuaries and Information Center was approached at one of our Tractor Supply events by a family who had taken in two cats a couple of years prior, only to be faced with job loss, surgeries and health problems that took away their ability to get these kitties spayed. Adding insult to injury was that both cats were pregnant at the time of their rescue. What started as two cats ended up as 34 cats and kittens with nowhere to turn.
We said, "Hey, let's hold a fundraising dinner. Let's do what we can and at least make a dent in the situation." We were flooded with personal and business donations, even from as far away as Australia through our Facebook page, but the outpouring of compassion from our local community was truly mind blowing. A wonderful rescue called Kitten Angels in Delmar committed to finding homes for all the kittens born in the household, and the funds raised at the dinner helped to spay and neuter all of the adults. Local folks adopted, donated baskets, cooked, set up and cleaned up. There are far too many to list, but I do want to personally thank the businesses that pulled through for us and ask that you consider doing business with them in the future. Tell them the kitties sent you.
Blessings and abundant thanks go to: Leonzo's Pizza Inc., Peck's Flowers, Karen Czlapinski/Karen's Portrait Art, Gianna's Pizza and Pasta, Johnstown Price Chopper, Debi Clemens/Rescue Wings, Kristin Agerter/Pure Romance, Jennifer Warner/Full Circle Dog Training, Elsa Norton/ResQ Connection Inc., Fat Bellies, Erica and Tammy Hime/Northern Lites Candle Co., Janice Bever/Country Roads Animal Rescue, Johnstown Restaurant Supply (they were ready to save our lives), Glove Theater, First Congregational United Church of Christ of Gloversville, Tractor Supply of Gloversville and Helpers Community Services.
Don't forget to visit us at Tractor Supply in Gloversville the first Saturday of every month.
