Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Wilson

Elizabeth "Betty" Wilson, 100, of Midline Road, Amsterdam, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012, at St. Mary's Healthcare.

She was born in Enosburg Falls, Vermont, on February 10, 1912, a daughter of Henry and Emma La Fountain Tucker and was a graduate of Enosburg Falls High School. Betty continued her education at Burlington Business College. In 1954, she moved to Gloversville where she lived until November 2011, when she moved to Perth with her daughter.

Mrs. Wilson was a secretary for Dottie and Barney Hare at their logging company. Later, she was employed with New York state, working in Schenectady. She retired in 1968 from NYS Taxation & Finance.

Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She was married to Herman L. Wilson in 1942. He died February 13, 1979.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn Rock of Amsterdam; a sister, Lenore Schwell, of Middlebury, Vt.; a granddaughter, Christina Dunlop (Jeff Sowle) of Broadalbin; and a great-grandson, Dylan Sowle.

Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A Time of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 and Black Street), Johnstown.
