FORT PLAIN - A village man is facing a felony weapons charge after a report of a fireworks explosion near the village post office.

Billy Kimmel, 32, of 24 Hancock St., was arrested by village police just after midnight Thursday after they said an investigation revealed he'd lit off a small stick-style explosive.

He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon - a felony - as well as unlawfully dealing with fireworks.

Kimmel was released on an appearance ticket, police said.
