Donations appreciated

May 21, 2012
The Leader Herald

I recently had the pleasure of twice visiting the second-graders of Fonda-Fultonville Elementary School. I had no idea that they had collected items for the Brennan Humane Society. They did a great job of collecting enough food, toys and cleaning materials to completely fill my car, leaving just enough space for Miss Lulu Belle and myself.

On behalf of all the animals being cared for at the Humane Society, I wish to thank all of the students for their kindness and caring. We want to send an extra-special thank you to Troy Zillis. (I apologize if the spelling is wrong, Troy.) This young man asked for donations for the shelter animals instead of birthday gifts for himself. How thoughtful and generous.

Kids never fail to inspire and give me hope for the future. I find kids so kind, caring and honest. They could teach some of us a thing or two about being good and productive citizens in our community.

Schools or other child organizations wanting a humane education presentation and visit with Miss Lulu Belle may reach me through the shelter at 725 -0115 or at my home, 661-4649. There is no fee for the program or books donated to the school library.

Lastly, I also want to thank every one of you for being such a great audience.
