GLOVERSVILLE - The Gloversville Central Council PTA is hosting an online Board of Education candidates forum on the school district's website.

The posting includes profiles of the candidates and their answers to questions from the PTA.

Seven candidates are vying for three seats on the board.

The candidates are Robin Walrath, Aaron Flynn, Mike Hauser, Polly Peck, Leo Santini Jr., Pat Ashbey and Pete Semione.

Polls will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Voters will decide on candidates and the school district budget for 2012-13.

The questions posed to the candidates were:

Why are you running for a seat on the Gloversville Board of Education? What are your strengths that you would bring to the board?

What is your picture of a Gloversville High School graduate?

What goals would you like to work on for the next three years, specifically at the elementary and secondary levels?

If budget cuts are necessary in future years due to the New York state 2 percent property tax cap, how will you prioritize budgetary expenditures for non-mandated programs such as kindergarten, music, art, extracurricular activities, etc.?

What is your opinion of teacher seniority, tenure and collective-bargaining rights?

All seven candidates submitted responses. They can be viewed at www.gloversvilleschools.org.
