Jay L. Edwards, 72, of Edinburg, N.Y., died suddenly on Tuesday, February 28, 2012. He was born on April 1, 1939, at home on Tennantville Road, Edinburg to Walter and Ethel Wilbur Edwards. He was a lifelong Edinburg resident and attended Edinburg Common and Northville Central schools.
He married Priscilla Olmstead on October 18, 1959.
He was employed by the town of Edinburg Highway Department and Brownell Lumber Company. He was also a former fire warden for the area. In 1969 he formed his own business, Clarkville Trucking and Timber Harvesting, in which he worked until his death.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Priscilla; two daughters, Andrea (George) Blackwood of Edinburg and Coleen Edwards (Mike Carswell) of Phoenix, Ariz.; one very special grandson, Elijah Blackwood of Edinburg; and his Old English sheepdog, Honey. He is also survived by sisters, Alta Winn of Johnstown, Tressa Hopkins of Edinburg; brothers, Guy (Dorothy) Edwards of Edinburg, Earl (Bonnie) Edwards of Galway, Bert (Marlene) Edwards of Broadalbin; brother-in-law, John Olmstead of Edinburg; sisters-in-law, Linda Hurst and Libby (Denny) VanNostrand of Mayfield; many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his sister, Elfleda "Dede" Olmstead.
