HERKIMER - The Herkimer County Community College softball team earned a sweep Saturday over Corning Community College, 13-2 and 3-2.
The Generals are guaranteed a first-round home game for the Region III Tournament on Tuesday afternoon. The regional brackets will be announced Sunday night.
In the first game Saturday, Gloversville graduate Mollee Putnam earned the win for the Generals, improving to 10-1 on the season. Putnam gave up two runs on just five hits through four innings. Gloversville graduate Cassie Hennessey added an RBI double for the Generals, who improved to 33-4 overall.
