Tobacco is just as deadly outside. We were recently at our friend's funeral. There was a large crowd there to pay their respects. Most smokers were very respectful and moved way away from the crowd to smoke. One couple who happened to be standing right in front of me and my husband chose to light up right in line. The woman would make her rounds visiting people who she knew but chose to stand right in front of us when she smoked.
There are no smokers' rights when it comes to sharing the toxic ingredients in cigarettes. No one has the right to infringe on someone's health. Outdoor smoking leads to cancer, heart disease and other serious illnesses. In children, smoking is one of the biggest factors in respiratory infections.
Secondhand smoke is not the only problem with smoking outdoors. Litter from cigarette butts pollutes our water supply, harms our wildlife and causes many fires. Smoking is one of the largest causes of home fires.
