Francis A. ‘Jack’ Stuart

Francis A. "Jack" Stuart, 85, of Broadalbin, passed away on May 1, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, after a long illness.

Mr. Stuart was born on September 25, 1926, in Gloversville, a son of the late Herman and Harriet Fosmire Stuart. "Jack" honorably served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He worked for many years as a leather worker for Independent Leather, Gloversville, retiring at age 62. His hobbies included fishing and hunting.

He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis S. Beekman Stuart, who passed away on October 16, 1952.

Survivors include three sons, James A. Stuart of Allensworth, Calif., Larry L. Stuart of Broadalbin and Daniel R. Stewart of Gloversville; one brother, Earl (Rose) Stewart of Gloversville; two sisters Sarah "Betty" (Art) Simonds of Johnstown and Madeline Susi of Gloversville; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his wife and his parents, Jack was predeceased by three brothers, Edward Stuart, Seymour Stuart, Franklin Stuart and Joseph Stuart; and three sisters, Marilyn Rice, Mary Blanchard and Eva Crowder.

A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, May 8, at 11 a.m. at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. There will be no calling hours.

Cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
