Elizabeth C. Fanch, 93, passed away peacefully earlier this year while in the care of her family in Colorado. She was born in Amsterdam on July 28, 1918, and was the daughter of Irish immigrants, John and Eliza Jane Weir Campbell.
A 1935 graduate of Wilbur Lynch High School, Betty worked for Mohawk Carpet Mills prior to her marriage to John L. Fanch in May of 1942. They enjoyed 24 years of marriage. She owned and operated a bookkeeping/tax service in Gloversville from 1966 until her retirement in 1993. Betty enjoyed her time at the lake with family and friends and was a lover of all animals. She attended the Fremont Street Methodist Church and was active in many local clubs with her husband.
She was predeceased by her husband, John L. Fanch in 1966; her son, John L. Fanch Jr. in 1976; and brothers, John Campbell, Walter Campbell; and sister, Lavinia Trafton.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Fanch (Suzanne) of Denver, Colorado, and Richard Fanch (Susan) of Saratoga Springs. She also will be remembered by her loving grandchildren, Kristin Ashworth Fanch, John L. Fanch III, Kelly E. Fanch, Kimberly M. Fanch, Rachel E. Fanch and Zachary Fanch. She also is survived by four great-grandchildren, nieces and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 5, at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, New York, 12078. A memorial service will follow at noon.
