"We spotted the four runs in the first inning and our kids didn't get down. They got a run back in the bottom of the first and kept digging," Gloversville coach Mike DeMagistris said. "This was a great win for us against a quality Suburban Council team. We're not as bad as our record is and I think we are starting to come together and play very good baseball."

Alex Vickery earned the win for the Huskies, allowing five hits, two earned runs and seven walks.

"He [Vickery] got in trouble in the first inning and we didn't really help him out with our play behind him," DeMagistris said. "But he settled down and pitched a great game."

Sam Beaulac was 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Averill Park, while Josh Durand had a single and an RBI.

Devin VanderVoort had a single, run scored and an stolen base for the Warriors.

Gloversville will host Scotia-Glenville on Monday at 4:15 p.m. in a Foothills Council contest.
