Bruce Edward Yates, 93, of Gloversville, N.Y., passed away on April 12, 2012, at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Yates was born on December 15, 1918, in Fultonville, a son of the late Burton Yates and Florence Yates. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Bruce attended Hartwick College in Oneonta and received his degree in education. He then resided in the town of Caroga Lake, where he built and operated the Lakeaire Restaurant and bartended at the former Rainbow Restaurant in Johnstown. Bruce loved the game of golf and could be found on the course most of the day.
He was predeceased by his wife, Rosalie Mezzano of Amsterdam; and his daughter, Sondra (Sunday) Yates Crew.
Survivors include: his son, Brian Yates of Caroga Lake; his sister, Marrion Buchner; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
In keeping with Bruce's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
Cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
