Joseph Ambrosino, 74, entered the gates of Heaven on the evening of March 7, 2012. He passed away in Florida, peacefully surrounded by loved ones. The son of Joseph and Marguerite Ambrosino, Joe was born in Gloversville, N.Y., on June 23, 1937. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Peggy Quant; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Smith. He is survived by his sisters, Joyce Smith, Susan (Denis) Wilson; brothers, David (Madeline), Robert (MaryJo), Terry (Heidi) Ambrosino; and brothers-in-law, Richard Quant and William Malin; along with many nieces and nephews. Joe was a devoted husband married to Billie Ambrosino. Together they had six children, Mark (Debra) Ambrosino, Arizona, Michael (Tracey) Ambrosino, New York, Alicia (Thor) Halgren, Minnesota, Robin Gregorka, Florida, Paul (Jessica) Ambrosino, Florida, and Daniel (Joanne) Ambrosino, Florida; and 13 grandchildren. He served in the United States Army from 1957 until 1960 where he reached the rank of sergeant and was a veteran of the post Korean War. After leaving military service he worked in local tanneries, leaving for a 45 year career in Construction, operating heavy machinery for several companies in the tri city area. As a young man he was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and racing both stock cars and motorcycles drags. Later in life he enjoyed watching many sports to include football, baseball, NASCAR, and was a member of the Summit Horseshoe League for many years. Before retiring, he moved to Florida but continued returning to New York to work until he retired in 2008. Joe was immensely loved and will be missed by all. The Ambrosino family is so appreciative for everyone's thoughts and prayers. His cremains will be returned to Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville, New York. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 30, 2012.
