H.S. Baseball Roundup: Saints win opener

MIDDLEBURGH - Eighth-grader Dylan Klock threw a four-hitter to lead St. Johnsville to a 6-2 win over Middleburgh in a Western Athletic Conference baseball game Tuesday.

Klock struck out nine to earn the complete-game victory.

Rob Jaikin had a two-run triple for the Saints (1-0 overall, 1-0 WAC). Josh Whittaker had 11 strikeouts for Middleburgh (0-1 overall, 0-1 WAC).

Non-league

Mayfield 8, Galway 7

MAYFIELD - Mayfield scored four times in the sixth innings to rally for a non-league win over Galway in the season opener for both teams.

Jordan VanNostrand and Dylan Toscano each had two-out, three-run doubles for Mayfield in the fourth and sixth innings, respectively.

Nick Manna had a double, two singles and two RBIs to lead Galway (0-1 overall).

Mayfield (1-0 overall) is scheduled to travel to Berne-Knox-Westerlo today for a 4:30 p.m. contest.
