H.S. Softball Roundup: Mayfield wins opener, 10-2

MAYFIELD - Nicole Little was 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI to lead Mayfield to a 10-2 win over Galway in a non-league softball game Tuesday.

Brooke Zimmermann was 3-for-3 with three runs scored for the Panthers (1-0 overall), while Anna Husain drew four walks and scored twice.

Husain also earned the win in the circle, striking out eight, walking one and allowing six hits.

Maria Messina and Kiera Davis also had hits for Mayfield, which is scheduled to travel to Berne-Knox-Westerlo today for a 4:30 p.m. contest.

Western Athletic Conference

St. Johnsville 5, Middleburgh 3

MIDDLEBURGH - Emily Chrisman was 2-for-4 with a double, single and RBI to help St. Johnsville to a Western Athletic Conference win over Middleburgh.

Sara Sammons was 2-for-3 with two walks for the Saints (1-0 overall, 1-0 WAC), while Sabryna Bentley was 2-for-3 with a double.

In her first varsity start, Mackenzie Ferguson earned the win in the circle for St. Johnsville, walking none and allowing just three runs.

Sammy Crabill was 2-for-3 with a double for Middleburgh (0-1 overall, 0-1 WAC), while Noelle Morgan added a pair of singles.

St. Johnsville will host Northville on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
