Contestants sought for scholarship pageant

GLOVERSVILLE - Applications are being accepted for the 2012 Miss Mohawk Valley Scholarship Pageant.

The competition is open to single women ages 17 to 24 who live, work or go to school full-time in Oneida, Herkimer, Fulton or Montgomery counties.

The pageant will be held March 17 at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School in Oneida County.

Contestants will compete in private interview, swimwear, talent, evening gown and on stage question categories. The winner will receive scholarship prizes and bear the Miss Mohawk Valley title during the year.

The 2011 pageant was won by Lynn Adele Tryon of Tribes Hill.

The winner also will advance to the Miss New York pageant in June, with that winner participating in the Miss America pageant.

Immediate registration is required to be a contestant.
