Rinardo N. "Butch" Insognia Jr., 67, of Maple Grove Road, Northville, died Sunday January 15, 2012, at home after being stricken. He was born on May 13, 1944, the son of the late Rinardo Sr. and Marjorie Rose Insognia. He was a graduate of Gloversville High School and a United States Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam era.
He was employed by Hussmann Inc. in Gloversville, retiring in 2006.
On November 30, 1991, he married Phyllis VanHeusen.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Insognia of Northville; one son, Nick (Tammy) Insognia of Niskayuna; stepchildren, Deborah (Pete) Warner of Wooster, Denise (Fred) Porta of Johnstown, Jennifer (Joe) Garrigan of Mayfield and Jim Starr; one brother, David Insognia of Gloversville; two sisters, Susan Tennant of North Carolina and Gina (Frank) Nethaway of Gloversville. Seven grandchildren also survive him.
Friends may call on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Burial will be held in the spring in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049 or the National Multiple Sclerosis Association, Upstate New York Chapter, 1650 South Avenue, Suite 100, Rochester, NY 14620.
