Frances Marie Vittucci

Frances Marie Vittucci, 92, of Gloversville, N.Y., died peacefully in her home Friday, January 6, 2012, surrounded by people who loved her. She was born on October 25, 1919, to the late Sebastiano and Angelina D'Antonino.

She worked for Este Middle School and the Fulton County Residential Health Facility as an office assistant, retiring after many years of devoted service.

Frances was the widow of Angelo Vittucci, who was in the first class of Lay Catholic Deacons and served the Gloversville religious community for more than 20 years.

Frances loved music and the arts. She was a talented speaker, writer, pianist, and a wonderful cook. She had a talent to reach out and guide younger women, and was a substitute mother and grandmother for countless women and their children. At the end, her fireplace mantle was filled with pictures of children from the families she had helped, sometimes by just listening, and much more.

She served for many years on the committee's of the Interfaith Tea, Fulton County Council of Churches, Church of the Holy Spirit Women's Society, Ladies of Charity, and various religious organizations.

Frances is survived by her children, Matthew and his wife, Cindy, of Gloversville, Angela Rose of La Mesa, Calif. and Sebastian of Vienna, Austria; her grandchildren, David, Francesca, Teresa, Maria Rose, Caitlyn, Anna and her stepgranddaughter, Michelle Leone. Also surviving are her beloved sister, Gaetana Persico of Reston, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 12, from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the Amico Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 10:45 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at the Church of the Holy Spirit. Entombment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown, N.Y.
