Julie Layne, the daughter of Stephen and Nancy Layne of Latham, Albany County, was united in marriage to Scot VanSickle, the son of and Stephen VanSickle of Troy, Rensselaer County, and Kathryn and Phil Dermott of Gloversville, on Aug. 20.

The ceremony took place at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Loudonville, Albany County. The Rev. John Knarvik officiated.

The bride was escorted by her father.

The maid of honor was Amee Layne. The bridal attendants were Amanda Gauvreau, Angela Perry and Stephanie Weaver.

The best man was Jonathan VanSickle, brother of the bridegroom. The groomsmen were Andre Hollingsworth, Frank Salvaggio Jr. and Matthew Dziewulski.

A reception took place at the Century House, Latham, following the ceremony.

A wedding trip took place in Tahiti. The couple resides in Loudonville.

The bride is a 2006 graduate from the State University of New York at Oneonta, Otsego County, with a bachelor's degree in childhood education; and a 2008 graduate of the University of Albany with a master's degree in literacy specialist. She is a teacher at St. Colman's School, Watervliet, Albany County.

The bridegroom is a 2005 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy. He is an information technology consultant for Logic Technology, Schenectady.
