Cross Country Roundup: Gloversville splits meet with Glens Falls

GLOVERSVILLE - The Gloversville boys and girls cross country teams split Tuesday's Foothills Council meet with Glens Falls.

The Gloversville girls posted a 23-35 win over the Indians, while the boys dropped a 25-35 decision.

In the 2.7-mile girls race, Gloversville's Kellie Lawton won with a time of 17:25. Glens Falls' Allyce Morissey was second with a time of 18:15 and Gloversville's Emily Ambrosino (18:27) was third.

Morgan Reinhardt (18;32) was fifth for Gloversville, Haley Schuyler (19:09) was sixth, Alicia Anich (19;35) was eighth and Darianna Port (20:15) was 10th.

In the 2.7-mile boys race, Gloversville swept the top two spot with John Knox finishing first with a time of 14:31, while Alex Gifford was second with a time of 14:43.

However, Glens Falls earned the win by claiming the next eight spots. Nick Reynolds led the Indians, placing third with a time of 15:05.

B-P boys, girls sweep Foothills meet

SOUTH GLENS FALLS - The Broadalbin-Perth boys and girls each picked up a pair of wins over Scotia-Glenville and South Glens Falls in a Foothills Council meet.

In the boys meet, the Patriots posted a 16-45 win over host South Glens Falls and a 16-45 win over Scotia-Glenville.

Broadalbin-Perth's Austin Becker won the 2.9-mile boys race with a time of 15:38 as the Patriots swept the top four spots. Justin Ferguson (15:39) was second for B-P), James Vainauskas (15:41) was third and Greg Bogdan (15:42) was fourth. Scotia-Glenville's Chris LaCoss (16:12) was fifth and South Glens Falls' Ethan Stone (16:21) was sixth,

Matt Dyer (16:24) was seventh for Broadalbin-Perth, while Joe Kelly (16:29) was 10th.

In the girls meet, the Lady Patriots topped Scotia-Glenville by a 27-30 margin and posted a 25-45 win over South Glens Falls.

Scotia-Glenville's Becky Celorio won the 2.9-mile girls race with a time of 17:53. Broadalbin-Perth's Opal Jessica Bogdan (18:24) was second.

Sarah DePalma (18:48) was fourth for B-P, Coreena Monroe (19:00) was sixth, Nicole Vainauskas (19:13) was eighth and Emily Baker (19:17) was ninth.

Western Athletic Conference

Mayfield sweeps Galway, Duanesburg

DUANESBURG - The Mayfield boys and girls posted wins over Duanesburg and Galway in a WAC meet Tuesday.

In the boys meet, Mayfield topped Galway by a 15-50 margin and also earned a win over an incomplete Duanesburg squad.

Mayfield's Tom McClellan won the 3-mile boys race with a time of 17:03 as the Panthers swept the top four spots.

Dave Krutz (17:04) was second for Mayfield, Lance Frasier (17:59) was third and Jake Smith (18:02) was fourth.

Duanesburg's Andrew Archambeault was fifth with a time of 18;26, while Galway's Nick Valente (20:43) was ninth.

Matt Montgomery (18;46) was sixth for Mayfield, Mitchell Akowicz (19:51) was seventh, Josh Gallup (20:06) was eighth and Dylan Lanza (20:55) was 10th.

In the girls meet, Mayfield topped Galway by a 24-31 margin and also earned a win over an incomplete Duanesburg squad.

Mayfield's Sarah Montgomery won the race with a time of 21:05, while Galway's Jessica Dorrough was second with a time of 21;11.

Margo Derby (22:03) was fourth for Mayfield, Lidija Nikollaj (22:06) was fifth, Allie Miller (23:28) was sixth and Jessica Glode (25:11) was ninth.

Emily Barnes led Duanesburg, placing eighth with a time of 25:11.

C-FP boys split, girls sweep

BERNE - The Canajoharie-Fort Plain girls posted two wins and the boys earned a split in a WAC meet at Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

In the girls meet, C-FP posted a 26-29 win over Berne-Knox-Westerlo and added a win over an incomplete Schoharie squad.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo's Courtney Tedeschi won the 2.6-mile girls race with a time of 18:25.

Alexis Kane led Canajoharie-Fort Plain, placing second with a time of 19:53. Brittany Clay (20:21) was fourth for C-FP, Quinn Li O'Shea (21:06) was seventh and Abby Boyer (21:08) was eighth.

In the boys meet, C-FP lost by a 24-32 margin to Berne-Knox-Westerlo and posted a 24-34 win over Schoharie.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo's Adam Forti won the 2.6-mile boys race with a time of 15:20.

Luke DeBoer led C-FP with third place finish in a time of 15:40. Jordan Ahrens (16:45) was seventh for C-FP John Adams (17:08) was eighth and Chris Ward (17:09) was ninth.

Colonial Council

FFCS sweeps Schalmont, Cobleskill-Richmondville

ROTTERDAM - The Fonda-Fultonville boys and girls both picked up a pair of wins in their Colonial Council meet with Schalmont and Cobleskill-Richmondville.

In the boys meet, the Braves topped Schalmont by a 17-41 margin and Cobleskill-Richmondville by an 18-37 margin.

Fonda-Fultonville's Mike Scott won the boys race with a time of 12:55 as the Braves swept the top four spots. Matt Hoffman (13:05) was second for FFCS, Tyler Angioli (13:31) was third and Jimmy Westman (13:42) was fourth. Cobleskill-Richmondville's Johnathan DiCesare (13:55) was fifth, while Jeff Budka led Schalmont with a seventh-place finish in a time of 14:15.

Dalton Hunter (14:26) was 10th for the Braves, Omijah Piening (15;08) was 15th, Jake Shave (15:31) was 20th and Levi Redlin?(16:20) was 26th.

In the girls meet, the Lady Braves topped Schalmont by a 20-35 margin and Cobleskill-Richmondville by a 19-36 margin.

Fonda-Fultonville's Kimberly Geniti won the girls race with a time of 15:35. Jamie Kasza (15:56) was second for the Lady Braves, while Samantha Phelps (16:12) was third. Schalmont's Alyssa Alex (16:16) was fourth and Cobleskill-Richmondville's Jordan Fogel (16:39) was fifth.

Carly Littlejohn (16:59) was seventh for FFCS and Katie Wisniewski?(17:47) was 11th.
