JOHNSTOWN - The following activities are for the Johnstown 50 Plus Club, housed in the Shirley J. Luck Senior Citizens Center, 109 E. Main St.
This week, the club had its business meeting with club officers and the monthly meeting, followed by the meeting of the club members. A second proposed slate of officers was made available to the club members at the meeting. There were refreshments and a celebration of the birthdays and anniversaries this month.
On Friday, a group went to the LaVilla Spa for beauty treatments and makeovers. A luncheon followed at Partner's Pub.
On Monday, the center will be closed for the Columbus Day holiday and will re-open at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
For the Wednesday trip to Lake George for the luncheon/show, there are 46 people expected to attend. The group will leave the center at 9:30 a.m.
On Oct. 20, there will be a celebration of the center's anniversary with a luncheon at the Maple Tree Knoll, Caroga Lake. The tickets can be purchased at the business office, but there must be a total count for the restaurant by Oct. 18.
On Oct. 27, the center will have a harvest dinner. People can get the tickets in advance.
For the social Sunday Oct. 30, the afternoon theme will be pumpkins and Halloween, including some new recipes by Rachael Ray.
Anyone wanting to join a card group on Tuesday and Thurday afternoons can let the club know. The players want a few people to join them in games of pitch and pay me. If interested, call 762-4643.
On Oct. 25, at 1 p.m. the Rite Aid Pharmacy is planning on doing a flu clinic at the center.
The following new trips are in the works:
On Nov. 28, a trip to the Colonie Mall for shopping and lunch.
On Dec. 2, a trip to the Beeches, Rome.
Also, the club is looking into many new areas for trips in 2012.
Memberships to the club are being taken now for 2012; the membership also will cover the rest of this year.
