JOHNSTOWN - The following is for the Johnstown 50 Plus Club, housed in the Shirley J. Luck Senior Citizens Center, 109 E. Main St.

The club officers meet at noon the first Thursday of every month. After their meeting, they then open to the club members and any guest at 1:15 p.m. to share information.

On Thursday, one of the prime topics discussed was the slate of officers presented to the club for consideration to replace current officers that are stepping down. There will be a second slate announcement Oct. 6 for a vote.

On Monday, the senior center will be closed for the holiday.

On Thursday, instead of the normal club event the officers will be going to Lake George, Warren County, for a luncheon/matinee.

On Sept. 12, all male members are invited to come for lunch at the center and to discuss planning for their event, the pancake breakfast, scheduled for Nov. 6. The men can add this to their calendar.

On Sept. 15, there will be a guest speaker from Direct Link at the center. This is a new business that provides services to the public such as transportation to and from medical appointments, in home services and more. Also, it is the first clinic for the flu vaccine provided by the Rite Aid Pharmacy. Call or stop by the center prior to this date.

On Sept. 22, advanced tickets are needed for the club's fall card party. Refreshments, sandwiches, and snacks will be provided, as well as a Chinese auction.

On Sept. 29, at 5 p.m. is the club's covered dish dinner. Attendees should bring their own place setting and a dish to pass. Prior to dinner, there will be the second flu vaccine clinic. Register for the vaccine by calling the center or stopping in.

The trips for this fall are all full and the Christmas trip to The Beeches, Rome, Oneida County, has been posted. Sign up as soon as possible before the trip is full. There are still six openings for the cruise to Bermuda in April 2012. If interested in this trip, the club can only secure prices and cabins until the end of this month. The deposits are needed as soon as possible; the balance is due in January 2012. A passport is needed to cruise in April 2012.

Any questions, call the center at 762-4643. All of the above and all information is available to all 50 plus people; the Christmas trip is one rate, member and non-member are the same. The cruise is also for anyone interested and is not exclusive to members.
