John M. ‘Jack’ Whitehouse

John M. "Jack" Whitehouse, 79, of Gloversville, died Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at Mountain Valley Hospice, Gloversville.

He was born February 28, 1932, in Gloversville, the son of the late Harry and Charlotte Whitehouse. A 1950 graduate of Gloversville High School, he was employed as a carpenter with Local Union No. 370. Jack was also a firefighter with the Gloversville Fire Department for twenty-five years.

Jack was married on April 19, 1950, to Dolores Cavallo, who predeceased him in 2006. Together they shared over fifty-six years of marriage.

Survivors include: three children, Robert M. "Kip" Whitehouse (Christina), Deborah Ann Shepard (Mark) and Todd M. Whitehouse (Angela), all of Gloversville; five grandchildren, Jedediah Whitehouse, Abbey Whitehouse, Matthew Shepard (Briana), Michaelyn Shepard-Lutz (Adam) and Ryan Whitehouse; one great-grandchild, Isabella Shepard; and a brother, James Whitehouse.

There will be no calling hours. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family, with Pastor Chris Hamm presiding. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY 12078.
