BROADALBIN - The Broadalbin Senior Citizens met May 11 for their meeting and the Fulton?County Office for Aging luncheon. There were 38 members in attendance, as well as one guest.
A prayer was said by Darleena Ball followed by "The Lord's Prayer" and the Pledge of Allegiance.
A discussion took place on the group's upcoming annual picnic July 20. More details will come later, a news release said.
The reports of Marge Gunderson, secretary, and Phil Guadagno, treasurer, were accepted as read.
There will be a retirement party for Pat Ryfa, who is stepping down from putting trips together. Ruth Lee, new trip chairwoman, noted the party will be June 8.
Lee passed out some signup sheets for new trips. The next trip is June 1, a cruise on the Mohawk River and lunch at a restaurant. If interested, contact Lee.
The guest was Joe McDonald's pet chicken, Diedrie.
Donna Chambers, the representative to the OFA Advisory Council, gave her report from the May 2 meeting.
Chambers noted the OFA picnic is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Concordia Park. The theme is "Be Happy - Be Healthy" and the picnic cost will be $8. The tickets are sold in advance only through OFA or senior groups. Chambers will have tickets.
Chambers also noted seniors who are not happy with action taken by the local assemblyman, senators and county supervisors in reference to seniors, should write to them and note what services need to be kept to help Fulton County seniors. OFA buses are available to help seniors. People can call OFA for more information.
The 50-50 winner was Gunderson. A lap robe, made and donated by Carol Fisher, was won by Jane Englehardt. The money from the raffle will go toward the group's annual Christmas party.
The next meeting will be Wednesday. The speaker will be Rory Fluman, who will give a presentation titled, "Safety with your car." Diane Savage from OFA also will be there.
Make reservations in advance for the OFA meal. Anyone is invited to the program at 12:45 p.m.
