JOHNSTOWN - A motorist and her passenger were found with 18 ounces of cocaine and $7,000 in cash during a traffic stop on Route 29A on Friday, state police said.
Driver Rubelyn Torres, 25, and Luis M. Cerda, 21, both of Brooklyn, were charged around 9:20 p.m. with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, police said.
Torres also was charged with speeding and having a suspended driver's license, police said.
A trooper stopped the 1991 Honda Accord for speeding, police said, and an odor of marijuana alerted the trooper to possible drug possession. A search of the vehicle and passenger uncovered the powdered cocaine and money, police said.
Additional troopers and the Fulton County Sheriff's Department canine unit assisted in the search and arrest.
Torres and Cerda were arraigned in Johnstown Town Court and were being held in the Fulton County Jail without bail.
