GLOVERSVILLE - Nathan Littauer Hospital will open its ninth primary care center next month on the lower level of the Crossroads Business Park, featuring two pediatricians to start.
Hospital spokeswoman Sue Kiernan said Friday the new center will open "in a month" and feature the services of two pediatricians - Drs. Richard Solby and Shannon Colt. Family nurse practitioner Danita Curtis also will be on the staff.
Eventually, she said, the center will offer more than just pediatric services.
News of the new primary care center came out at the Fulton County Economic Development Corp.'s board of directors meeting Tuesday afternoon at the Johnstown Professional Office Complex. Thomas Bell, a member of the Board of Directors of the Crossroads Incubator Corporation the EDC's real estate component - related how Nathan Littauer Hospital will move to the Crossroads Business Park off South Kingsboro Avenue Extension.
Laurence Kelly, the hospital's chief executive officer, and the also the EDC board president, couldn't be reached Friday for comment.
Bell said the hospital will occupy the "first floor" of the business park's main lower-level office complex, located at 110 Decker Drive.
Kiernan said Nathan Littauer Hospital will open a primary care center at the business park for space reasons. She said the hospital received a certificate of need for the new site Feb. 18 from the state Department of Health.
"We have totally run out of spaces on South Perry Street," Kiernan said, referring to Johnstown's primary care center.
In addition to a primary care center at the hospital in Gloversville and another one in Gloversville on Steele Avenue, the hospital has centers at two city of Johnstown locations - South Perry Street and Fon Clair Terrace. There also are centers in Caroga Lake, Mayfield, Perth and Speculator.
According to the Nathan Littauer Hospital website, the "primary/specialty care centers provide care for the whole family. Our eight conveniently located centers offer a range of services and specialties with direct access to the specialists and state-of-the-art technology at Nathan Littauer Hospital."
Services at the centers include: internal medicine, family practice, pediatrics, women's health (obstetrics/gynecology) neurology, general surgery, occupational medicine, laboratory services - blood drawing, well-child care and immunizations.
