Andrew ‘Andy’ Renda Jr.

Andrew "Andy" Renda Jr., 66, of Fort Hunter, N.Y., passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York.

Born in Gloversville, N.Y., on November 24, 1944, he was a son of the late Andrew Renda Sr., who passed away in 1984, and Marguerite Moscato Renda of Gloversville, who survives.

Andy received his education in the Gloversville school system and graduated from Gloversville High School.

Andy was employed at Liberty Enterprises in Amsterdam, N.Y., as shipping and receiving supervisor, retiring in 2005.

Andy was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary's Church in Amsterdam.

Along with his mother, Andy is survived by: his wife, Barbara Cherico Renda, to whom he was married on November 27, 2004; one son, Neil Renda of Fort Hunter, N.Y.; one daughter, Christine Pierce (Charles) of Eastham, Mass.; three brothers, Charles Renda and his fiancee, Suzanne, of Galway, N.Y., Robert Renda of Gloversville, N.Y. and David Renda and his girlfriend, Linda, of Gloversville, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Charles, Caroline, Conall and Cecile Pierce, all of Eastham, Mass.; one stepdaughter, Shannon Leggiero of Staten Island, N.Y.; one stepson, James Leggiero of Nevada; two stepgranddaughters, Lexi "Moochie" and Jenessa Leggiero, both of Staten Island; and his former wife, Karen Strevy of Fort Hunter, N.Y. Aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at 8:30 at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division St., Amsterdam, N.Y., followed at 9:15 by a Mass of Christian burial, which will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, 156 E. Main St., Amsterdam, N.Y.

Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson, N.Y.

Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary.
