A 90th birthday celebration took place Nov. 7 for Viola Bucci in the Church of the Holy Spirit parish hall, Gloversville. There were approximately 200 relatives and friends in attendance including the Rev. Donald Czelusniak and the Rev. Randell Torres.
Bucci's friends and family members were instrumental in the preparation and presentation of the champagne reception, a news release said.
Joe Willis gave the blessing before the meal and Carolyn Tierney spoke about Bucci's life of serving God, family, church, community and friends.

Bucci is the manager of the Helpers Community Service on North Main Street in Gloversville and she works there daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. She was an organist for Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church before it became the Church of the Holy Spirit.
The music was provided by Penny Jar, an international folk band featuring Jim Strickland, Laurie Freeman, Ellen Adamson and Irena Garin, which plays a mix of styles and genre.
The hall was decorated with organza, balloons, and photographs.
Bucci's life was described in the following tribute: She does all the work she can; by all the means she can; in all the ways she can; in all the places she can; at all the times she can; for all the people she can; and she will continue for as long as she can.
