Kathryn and Philip Dermott of Gloversville announce the engagement of Kathryn Dermott's son, Scot VanSickle of Troy, to Julie Layne of Latham.
VanSickle is a 2005 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy. He is an information technology consultant for Logic Technology, Schenectady.
Layne is a 2006 graduate from the State University of New York at Oneonta, Otsego County, where she received a bachelor's degree in childhood education. She is a 2008 graduate of the University at Albany with a master's degree in literacy specialist. She is a teacher at St. Colman's School, Watervliet.
