FONDA - The two Schenectady men who were convicted in June in connection with last summer's drive-by shooting outside Slick's Tavern in the city of Amsterdam will serve prison time.
A jury found Jose A. Maschio, 23, of 709 Crane St., guilty June 28 of one count of second-degree reckless endangerment, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and one count of third-degree criminal possession of weapon.
Wednesday, Montgomery County Court Judge Felix Catena sentenced Maschio to a total of 12 years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision.
A jury found Michael A. Bianca, 22, of 1072 Raymond St., guilty June 28 of reckless endangerment and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was sentenced to a total of three years in prison and five years of post-release supervision.
Charges against the two other Schenectady men, Rashawn G. Harris, 29, and Ronald R. Santiago, 29, who were charged in connection with the shooting at Slick's Tavern on Grand Street, were dismissed because of lack of evidence.
Bianca and Maschio were the first two suspects to be arrested in the case.
Harris was arrested later when he turned himself in to Schenectady police after learning from news reports he was wanted in connection with the shooting. He originally was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment.
Authorities said that in August 2009, witnesses reported two vehicles were involved in the shooting that damaged four vehicles, two residences and the tavern. No one was injured.
