JOHNSTOWN - The Fulton County Board of Supervisors' Buildings and Grounds-Highway Committee voted Monday to request quotes to replace a deteriorating steam boiler at the County Office Building.
The cost of the project is expected to be around $35,000.
County Highways and Facilities Superintendent Mark Yost deemed replacement of the boiler before the fall heating season a "true emergency."
He said the boiler is cracking in three sections and has been repaired repeatedly over the years.
"It's an operational problem as far as my employees coming over here every month to keep that thing working," Yost said.
County officials said they might opt to use a building reserve account to pay for the project.
