BROADALBIN - The Broadalbin-Perth Central School District Board of Education has announced it will conduct a community meeting to gather ideas and suggestions from district residents for the board's annual goal-setting process.
The session will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 11 in the high school cafeteria.
Participants will be split into groups to discuss their ideas for the district and goals they want the district to achieve during the school year. The small groups will define their ideas into goal statements and then prioritize them. The small groups, after about two hours, will bring their final priorities to present to the board.
Residents who are interested in being part of this goal-setting session are asked to RSVP using the district's website, www.bpcsd.org, or by calling the district office at 954-2500.
Later this year, the Board of Education plans to start a series of four public budgetary planning discussions. The first will take place in December, and one will be conducted each month through March.
The board decided to scale back the number of meetings from six last year to four this year.
Topics for discussion will be consolidated, and time for public discussion will be increased this year, according to a news release from the district.
December's meeting will focus on operations, maintenance and transportation.
January's meeting will be for athletics and extracurricular activities, followed in February with a discussion of instructional programs. Finally, public discussion of the budget will take place in March.
The dates for the meetings have yet to be determined.
