Douglas Schoolcraft, 86, of 180 Briggs St. Ext., died Sunday, May 9, 2010. He was born, the son of Clarence and Emma Schoolcraft, in Gloversville, N.Y., on Nov. 19, 1923. Douglas served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He is survived by his companion, Margaret Shibley of Johnstown. He also is survived by: two sons, Douglas Schoolcraft Jr. (Emma) of Florida, David Schoolcraft of Mayfield; two daughters, Deborah Austin of Schenectady, Dena Schoolcraft (George) of Broadalbin; seven grandchildren, Cheryl Gloor (Tom), Pamela Byrd (Daniel), Carmen Schoolcraft, Victoria Kidwell (Stephen), Jamie Levandusky (Stephen), Lisa Brownell (Stephen), Dale Schoolcraft; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Putman and Doris Maxon of Johnstown; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Martha Schoolcraft, and a grandson, Peter Walker Jr. Douglas donated his body to the Anatomical Gift Program of the Albany Medical College. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
