Donald Stewart, a former longtime Gloversville resident, celebrated his 100th birthday March 7 at a party at the Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown with family and friends in attendance. He was born March 10, 1910.
He was a World War II Army veteran. After he retired from Liberty Leather, he was a sexton at the Gloversville Lutheran Church. He also caned chairs for several area people.
He and his late wife, Alice Stewart, enjoyed travelling.

He has: a daughter, Donna Brownell of Johnstown, and a son, Philip Stewart of Waterville, Maine; six grandchildren, Michael, Eric, Todd Brownell, Rebecca Bowers, Matthew and Kris Stewart; and eight great-grandchildren, Justin, Ethan, Kyle Brownell, Dering Bowers, Abigail and Sarah Brownell, Zachary and Kalista Stewart.
