Rodney B. Cromwell
Rodney B. Cromwell, 46, of County Highway 109, Broadalbin died Sunday morning, December 20, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital with loved ones at his side.
He was born on July 7, 1963, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, a son of Dale G. and Kay A. Shaw Cromwell and was a 1981 graduate of Deer River High School in Minnesota. Rod lived in Texas and Florida before moving to New York. He resided in Broadalbin since 1996.
He was employed for the past four years at Thermo-bilt Inc. in Schenectady. Previously, Rod worked as an ironworker, a fabricator, and was also involved in carpentry.
Rod enjoyed hunting, motorcycles, and being outdoors. Mostly, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by: his devoted companion, Wanita M. Gasner of Broadalbin; 2 brothers, Randall D. (Karen) Cromwell of Schenectady and Jeffrey S. (Melissa) Cromwell of Newnan, Ga.; a sister, Teri K.(William) Haig of Grand Rapids, Minn.; his stepfather, Robert H. McDonald of Deer River, Minn; his maternal grandfather, Glenn Shaw of Tracy, Minn.; 3 nieces, Shedelle, Pamela, and Elizabeth; 3 nephews, Landen, William Jr., and Rob; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition, he is survived by Wanita's parents, Edward and Virginia Gasner of Broadalbin.
Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 38 West Main Street, Broadalbin. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Kathy Reese officiating. Final burial will take place in the spring at the Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
