Julia M. Skapik Ruzicka
Julia M. Skapik Ruzicka, 89, formerly of Parkwood Ave., Johnstown, died Thursday, Dec. 17, at Wells Nursing Home. Born March 20, 1920, in Gloversville, she was the daughter of Stephen and Emelia Jacobek Skapik. Mrs. Ruzicka graduated from Broadalbin High School and Gloversville School of Business. She was employed at General Telephone, Kabat Gloves and for many years at Conroy Gloves. She and her husband, Anthony, were inseparable and they most enjoyed boating and picnicking with family and friends on Great Sacandaga Lake. She was a member of Amalgamated Glove Workers Union, Johnstown senior citizens center and the former St. Anthony's Christian Women. She married the late Anthony Ruzicka June 28,1941. He died Feb 21, 2003. Mrs. Ruzicka is survived by: her daughter, Carol Bartholomew (David) of Pecks Lake, NY; two grandchildren, Ann Buckley (Evans) of Canton, CT and Brett Bartholomew (Michele) of Lakeland, NY; great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Mason Buckley and R.J. and Olivia Bartholomew. She was predeceased by one brother, Stephen Skapik; and two sisters, Irene Goodemote and Wilma Kabot. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, 9:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Church, Clinton St., Johnstown with Rev. Kenneth Swain as celebrant. Friends and Family may call Sunday 4-6 p.m. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, Johnstown. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to NOAH (Needy Orphaned Alone or Homeless) in care of St. John's Episcopal Church, Johnstown or the Wells House, Johnstown or the William Wright Scholarship Fund, Johnstown High School.
