Lynne Marie Billington

Mrs. Lynne Marie Billington of Point Road, Piseco, New York, died at her home on Thursday morning, December 10, 2009, after a yearlong battle with cancer. She was born November 15, 1961, in Niskayuna, New York, the daughter of Jean and Chester Blessing.

Lynne moved to Piseco in 1972 to help her parents run Piseco Lake Lodge. She graduated from Wells Central School in 1979 while starting her college education at Herkimer County Community College where she earned an associate degree in Court Reporting.

She married Lee Billington at Camp Fowler in Speculator, New York, on June 7, 1980, and they moved to Houston, Texas, where they lived until 1988 when they moved to Manchester, Connecticut. In 1992, they returned to Piseco and have resided there since. Lynne worked in Texas, Connecticut and New York as a court reporter until June 2009 when her illness forced her to stop.

She had been an active member in the Piseco Lake Historical Society and the Fulton Montgomery Heritage Society. She was also a member of Johnstown School PTSA and the Women's Republican Club of Fulton County.

She was predeceased by her mother, who died October 11, 2009. She is survived by: her husband; her father; her children, Kyra Marie and Eric Chester and his wife, Samantha Billington; her brother, Scott and his wife, Bonnie Blessing, of Virginia; her aunt, Elizabeth Melsert of Rexford, New York; her uncle, Edward Blessing of Colonie, New York; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service for Lynne will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at the Adirondack Bible Chapel on Route 8 in Piseco, with Edward Hart officiating. Burial will take place in Higgins Bay Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lynne Billington Memorial Scholarship Program to be established at Piseco Common School, PO Box 7, Piseco, New York 12139 or to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, New York.
