David M. Braunius

David M. Braunius of Lake Pleasant, N.Y., passed away on December 9, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, N.Y. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Hawthorne, N.J., the son of Peter and Trina VanDyk Braunius. He attended Eastern Academy and was raised in Northern New Jersey where he was a leader in the Boys Cadets.
He married Anna Van Deweert in 1949. In 1968, he moved his family from New Jersey to Lake Pleasant, N.Y. and established Braunius Contractors.
Dave was an active member and lay leader of the Grace United Methodist Church. He was past president of the Speculator Lions Club. He was also the former zoning officer for the town of Lake Pleasant. He and Anna ran the Hillcrest Motel in Lake Pleasant for many years.
Dave is survived by: his loving wife of 60 years, Anna; his children, Dave (Joan) Braunius, Don (Florence) Braunius, Judy (Bob) Peck and Patti (Gary) Rhinehart; also his precious grandchildren (15); and great-grandchildren (17). He was predeceased by two infant daughters.
Friends may call on Friday, December 11, 2009, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church in Speculator where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Fish Mountain Cemetery, Lake Pleasant. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church or the Speculator Ambulance Corps. Arrangements are by the Northville Funeral Home.
