Emmett F. Chase
Emmett F. Chase, 93, of Rebisz Road, Broadalbin, died Thursday evening December 3, 2009, at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home.
He was born on September 6, 1916, in the town of Providence a son of Emmett and Lottie Potter Chase and was educated in schools in Union Mills. Emmett was a lifelong area resident.
At one time, Mr. Chase was employed as a textile worker at the former Broadalbin Knitting Company. Later, he worked for the Fulton County Highway Department for 23 years, retiring in 1979.
Emmett was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers Association, the Adirondack Fiddlers Association , and the Champlain Valley Bluegrass Association.
He was married to the former Lena P. Kenyon on May 15, 1943. She died April 19, 2001. In addition his wife, he was predeceased by two sons; Robert L. Chase, who died December 1, 2005 and Richard D. Chase, who died September 5, 2008.
Survivors include two sons, Robin D. Chase of Morrison, Colo. and Randy J. Chase of Broadalbin; his daughter-in-law, Linda Chase of Broadalbin, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 38 West Main St., Broadalbin, with Rev. Chris Wintermute officiating. Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Union Mills Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to local animal shelters, in care of the funeral home.
