Wesley John Hurd

Wesley John Hurd, 70, passed away after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his father, Wesley J. Hurd, and granddaughter, Shawna Cyr.

He is survived by: his wife, Christine Hurd; mother, Stefania Czech Hurd; sister, Karen Hurd; his children, Katrina Hurd, John (Dawn) Hurd, Kristeena (Mark) Cyr, and Theresa (Matthew) Hurd-Hassinger; stepsons, Kenneth (Kaitlyn) Locke and Kyle (Olga) Locke; grandchildren, Kari, Kaitlyn, Brittany, Whitney, Kayli, Kasey, Connor, Lyndee and Rowan; special friends, Kenyon and Patty Simpson, George Daniels, Marge and Al Jennings, Adam Haner, Mike and Cindy Pratt, and many many others.

Wes was a sergeant in the United States Army from 1960 to 1964, stationed in Germany, a New York state Forest Ranger for 26 years, Master Instructor Sportsman Education Program, N.Y. state 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor, NRA Instructor, Master Mason (Fort Ann, NY), and American Legion member. He was an avid outdoorsman and logger, and all of those that knew him knew his laughter, kindness, generosity, friendship and love for his family, his friends, his music and his gardens. He will sadly be missed by all those who shared his life.

Calling hours are Monday November 30 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at W.M.Marvin's Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, N.Y. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 1st at 11 a.m. at the Westport Bible Church. Burial services in Gloversville, N.Y., at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 2. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in Wes' name.
